Applications:
Measurement of RL using the wet recovery method (“Bucket method”) and under conditions of continuous wetting (using a rain simulator)
Determination of night visibility (RL) of road and airport markings / Measurement of RL under standard conditions of continuous wetting and conditions of rain using a rain simulator / Use on all types of road and airport markings / Field and laboratory use / Quality assessment
The ZRM 6010 makes the “continuous wetting” method possible through an “external beam” retroreflectometer. This means that the projected RL light source will hit the ground at a point that is ahead of the ZRM 6010 (where the simulated rainfall is located).
The high-resolution camera takes top quality pictures of the measured road or airport markings – the built-in zoom allows for detailed inspection of the marking, so the embedding of the glass beads can be checked easily without the need to crouch down on the road with a magnifying glass.
In zoom mode, a true scale is displayed so that the size of the embedded glass beads can be determined.
The picture is stored together with the measuring value, so it can be used as a direct reference.
Of course the picture will also be downloaded to the free versatile mapping and data analysis software MappingTools.

Retroreflection, also called night visibility, is a specific type of light reflection when the light rays goes on a surface and comes back to the source of light. This principle is a pillar in road safety. Indeed, the vehicles lamps during the night enable to see the road markings, road signs and conspicuity tapes. A retroreflectometer is used to measure the retroreflection performance of the surface. The retroreflection (often written “R”) is measured in cd. m-2. lx-1.
